Astrelle was second born to Aegisan and Elliana de Bayle. The only girl and a twin to her brother, Guillemont, Astrelle grew up around tales of knights and Dragoons. Her mother instilled in her the kindness to be expected at any royal court—polite mannerisms and prim etiquette that would have won her and her family the eye of any higher nobility and elevate their status further. Such things would not come pass for the young woman and her family, as Astrelle began to drift further and further away from the idea of nobility and luxury to chase dreams of adventure.
She had always been different from her brothers. They all were tutored in the way of Ishgard: swords, shields, lances. Astrelle bore none of those very well and held little interest in the clergy of the Holy See. Instead she turned her attention to everything around her that she could take apart and learn about. This made her a natural fit for the Machinist's Guild upon its conception and she has worked with the Skysteel Manufactory for many years now.

Ishgard is her home. Anyone from Ishgard will have heard the name Bayle and would know that they rose from humble beginnings. Brumelings might recognize the family as one who was known to pass out bread to those less fortunate and often earned both praise and criticism from the upper nobility.The Grand Alliance and those affiliated with it will know her for not only lending her firepower to the liberation of Ala Mhigo and the fight during the Final Days, but also for her application of prosthetic enhancements for those harmed by the various wars.Thrillseekers may know the tales of an Ishgardian woman who never seems to sit idle. From daring adventures to reckless and spontaneous behavior, Astrelle is someone who prefers the rush of blood pounding in her ears. That is when she thrives.
The Far East once played host to the wayward Ishgardian, who was certain to make the best use of her time in a foreign land. Ishgardians are known for being incredibly fond of the Far Eastern culture and Astrelle was no exception to that rule—she tasted and did as much as she could in her near decade there.Sky Pirates will know her uncle, Farstan. She learned most of her current knowledge because of the Sky Pirates - whether it be Garlean technology or geographical information, Astrelle was quick to shift from demure Ishgardian noble to a hardened gunslinger.Airships are a particular favorite of hers. While not particularly known for any outstanding amount of skill at piloting them, she does enjoy the occasional weekend on a small, private airship to travel to where ever she might please.
